June Snippets
As winter settles in and the mornings get a little cooler, June brings plenty of opportunities to stay connected, keep active, and enjoy good company here in Tapawera.
Wellby Talking Cafe - 9 June
Our next Wellby Talking Café will be held at St Peter's Church on Tuesday, 9 June from 10.00 am to 11.30 am.
For just $3, you'll enjoy a hot cuppa, morning tea, and the chance to connect with others in a relaxed and welcoming environment. Open to people of all ages, Wellby Talking Café is all about friendly conversation, community connection, and taking time to check in with one another.
Whether you're a regular attendee or thinking about coming along for the first time, we'd love to see you there.
Tea & Talk - 30 June
Our monthly Tea and Talk gathering returns on Tuesday, 30 June from 10.00 am to 11.30 am at St Peter's Church.
This month, we're pleased to welcome Theresa Kidd-Foley from Epilepsy New Zealand as our guest speaker.
Theresa will lead an informal community conversation about epilepsy, including what it is, what seizures can look like, and the realities of living with a chronic neurological condition. The session will also explore wellbeing, safety, support for whānau, and how communities can better understand and support people living with epilepsy.
This is a valuable opportunity for anyone wanting to learn more about epilepsy, whether for themselves, a family member, friend, or simply to support others in our community better.
As always, $3 helps cover the cost of morning tea and a hot drink. The space is warm, welcoming, and a great place to gather during the colder months.
Stay Active with Sit and Be Fit
Each week, we also host Seniors' Sit and Be Fit at St Peter's Church as part of ACC's Strength and Balance Programme.
Exercises run from 10.00 am to 10.50 am and are designed to help maintain strength, balance, and confidence. Participants are welcome to stay afterwards for a cuppa and some social connection.
Many also stick around for a lively game of Mexican Trains, where friendly competition is always guaranteed, and we discover who among us is taking the game just a little too seriously!
