Keeping Homes Warm This Winter
As temperatures drop across our district, we've heard from several people who are concerned about how they'll keep their homes warm this winter.
With rising living costs and ongoing financial pressures for many households, heating can become a significant expense during the colder months. Recognising this need, Della has been working alongside local residents to help connect people with available support.
Help Available for Firewood and Power Costs
Through support from the Fifeshire Foundation, people experiencing significant financial hardship may be eligible for assistance with heating costs.
This support can include:
Assistance to purchase firewood
Up to $500 towards a power bill
Other hardship support, depending on individual circumstances
Della can help residents understand what assistance may be available and, where appropriate, support them through the application process.

Additional Community Support
Tapawera Connect has also received a donation to help provide firewood for local households experiencing hardship this winter.
This funding will support the delivery of approximately 10 cubic metres of firewood to five local households. Where possible, recipients are encouraged to make a small koha towards delivery costs, helping stretch the support further for others in need.
Locals Supporting Locals
One of the strengths of our community is the way people look out for one another.
Whether it's sharing resources, checking in on neighbours, volunteering time, or helping connect someone with available support, these small acts of kindness make a real difference.
We're also pleased to be working towards creating a list of local firewood suppliers to make it easier for residents to source firewood close to home. In addition, a local business has indicated they may be able to provide firewood for people experiencing hardship next year on a koha basis. We'll share more information about this initiative as details are confirmed.
Thank You
We're grateful to the Fifeshire Foundation, St Andrews, local suppliers, and everyone helping identify households who may benefit from support this winter.
Their generosity helps ensure that people in our community can stay warm, safe, and connected during the colder months.
