A Story Worth Telling – Tea & Talk This Tuesday

This Tuesday’s Tea & Talk is shaping up to be something really special.

We’re welcoming Michael Richard Brown, a local author who has recently released the first book in a three-part memoir series reflecting on his life.

Michael’s story is anything but ordinary. Born in England, his family moved first to Australia and then to New Zealand in search of a better life. Along the way, he’s worn many hats… from a teenager chasing adventure (including joining a circus at 17!) to a life of hands-on work as a carpenter and renovator, and now a deeply connected member of the Motueka community.

But at the heart of it all is something many of us can relate to… a lifelong search for belonging.

His memoir, A Boy’s Journey, explores his early years and the feeling of being “the odd one out”, tracing the experiences that shaped him and the resilience he built along the way. Writing it wasn’t just about telling stories… it was about understanding himself.

And that’s where this session becomes something more than just a talk.

Michael is passionate about sharing the process of memoir writing… how capturing your own story can help make sense of your life, reconnect with moments that matter, and even rediscover a sense of contentment.

Whether you’ve ever thought about writing your own story or simply enjoy hearing about the lives of others, this will be an engaging, thoughtful, and likely very relatable morning.
